CENTRAL CA HERE
Recently found out I may have a hernia. Doctor sent me to get a CT scan. They told me my very minimal insurance won’t cover any of that. So I need to pay out of pocket to at least see where I am on that. I will need surgery eventually. (Not feeling pain and apparently I’ve had it a while) however as I said, I have the cheapest possible insurance through my employer.
I’ve also got diabetes and am overweight so I’m already aware that I need a better health plan. It’s just that I don’t make too much and was trying to save money when put on the spot of getting a plan going.
So my question is…Can I just purchase a health plan from the marketplace and immediately start using it?
The CT scan will probably have to happen soon so I’ll be paying out of pocket. But will getting insurance now for surgery later be something they don’t allow?
I’m very uneducated in this and I’m trying to read all I can while working…but I know there is a lot of insight here. Would love to get a basic view of what my best move is. Thanks much.
