I had ankle fusion surgery last November. I had two incisions, one healed and the other is still open, with a small area of bone graft visible. I saw a plastic surgeon referred by my orthopedic surgeon in early February and he says I need a graft to cover it. I’m not allowed to walk, using crutches and a knee scooter. Anthem has denied it twice because my surgeon wants to use Integra for the graft. He is filing a grievance. I’m an experienced ICU nurse who can’t work. It’s been 5 months. Any suggestions?
