Being Kicked off my parent’s insurance before 26

Hi,

I’m 24 and my parents are finalizing their divorce, and in the proceedings, I’m no longer going to be on either of their health insurance plans within the next two months. I work full time, but I opted out of health insurance, and the most recent open enrollment period closed.

My question is, does this qualify as a life event?

I’m not the one getting divorced, and I’m the dependent being removed, which are slightly different from the normal qualifying life events.

I’ll probably be reaching out to HR at my company anyway, but I wanted to know if anyone has any advice on what to ask for/specify. Thanks.

Edit:

State: MA

income 90k/year
