My employer has a small business with two employees and the owner. I started working 4 months ago. I get 401k benefits, but no health insurance, as it is very costly to cover 2 people (the owner and me, the third employee is on her parents’ insurance). I get my health insurance through the marketplace and am eligible for APTC.
Last week, the employer offered to pay my marketplace health insurance premium (and I pay for my family). I would like to know if it is legally allowed.
AFAIK, If your employer does not offer an employer group plan or any other medical benefits, you are eligible for APTC. And, therefore, my employer cannot pay my marketplace health insurance premium. Is my understanding correct here?
Thanks in advance.
