I currently have surgery scheduled on my wrist for Wednesday 9/1/21. However, I just discovered my deductible is $8500. My policy period is from 1/1/21-1/1/22. Would there be any negative repercussions if I cancelled my surgery, waited it out until my renewal and reduced my deductible during the new policy period and then rescheduled the surgery so I could 1) pay less 2) have my hit my deductible early so it would be paid for more of the 2022 policy period?
I wasn’t sure if I was to do this, would they be able to add my wrist as a pre-existing condition and have the surgery denied next policy period? Or is this something legal that other people do all the time?
