Hi,
In December I signed up for a new insurance provider. This morning, I found out that my PCP is not in network. I am positive that I checked to make sure he was in network before signing up – either I made an error, or the website misinformed me, or something else. A googling shows that I’m not the first person to have this happen. Regardless, the provider has given me a “well too bad, you’re stuck with us now” attitude about it. I called marketplace and was told that I can’t switch right now unless I quality for a special enrollment period, which I do not.
However, I know that there is an extension happening starting next week – some places refer to it as an “open enrollment period”, others refer to it as a “special enrollment period”. I am wondering if anybody knows if I could cancel my current plan, and then sign up under the upcoming enrollment period because I’ll be uninsured?
Frankly, this is an error that should be fixable, and I think it’s totally unreasonable that I’m stuck with this plan for an entire year and makes me even MORE upset with how healthcare is run in this country. But I digress…. Thanks for any input.
