Can I get out of paying a surprise out of network insurance billing if they told me they were in network?

I got in touch with a health center to book a session with one of their therapist, I explicitly asked them if the therapist is in network for my insurance and they took my insurance number/member ID and said yes they are. Turns out, only some of their psychologists in a certain department are in network while the person I talked to is not!

They’ve billed $300 and now expect me to pay for it, vs the $25 copay I expected from in-network providers. I feel so deceived and I don’t think its reasonable they falsely claimed/neglected to verify what they told me. Sadly it was over the phone so I don’t have an email record- can someone tell me if I can get out of this bill?
