So , in short. I fall break my arm and visit the emergency room ( in network for my health insurance plan). I am required to make a $1000 copay upfront as soon as I walk in. They then take X-rays , doc tells me my arm is fractured and they put it in a temporary splint – pending a visit to the orthopedic specialist.
I then check my EOB for the claim that was submitted by the emergency room.
The claim states the emergency room billed the insurance carrier $1991.00 . The health insurance carrier pays the entire bill, in full.
So by my logic, wouldn’t the $1000 be refundable to me since my insurance carrier covered the entirety of the costs of the visit? Maybe I’m missing something? Any insight would be great.
