Can you do chiropractic care instead of physical therapy before getting approved for an MRI?

For the past year, I’ve been having tension and strain in my neck as well as in my upper back. Sometimes it’s severe and other times it’s mild. When I turn my head, I really feel the tension. Along with this, I’ve also been having issues with my reward system. I don’t get aroused anymore, I don’t get adrenaline, and I’ve been having erection problems.

I went to my doctor to get my hormones checked. Everything was normal. My testosterone and everything was normal.

A couple months went by and my symptoms weren’t improving. I’ve been paying closer attention to my symptoms and I’ve noticed I’ve been having this persistent tension in my neck that hasn’t been going away. I went back to my doctor and told him about this and he ordered me an X-Ray of my cervical spine.

I just got that procedure done and I am waiting for my results. He told me that I will have to do an X-Ray first as well as physical therapy before getting approved for an MRI. I asked him, “What about a chiropractor?” He said, “Sure you can try that too.”

I think I want to try a chiropractor instead of a physical therapist because I’ve never been in an accident or had surgery.

If the chiropractic care doesn’t work, I wonder would my insurance give me the approval to get an MRI?
