Cancer with Medi-Cal?

Hey guys, I’m a Californian with a healthcare-related question, mostly to be sure I don’t end up in a pickle down the road. So, I have ultrasound appointment approaching. It could be the indicator as to whether I have cancer or not.

My question is: should I be doing anything, like getting better health insurance [that I’d be comfortable using, long-term] prior to this important appointment?

My nightmare scenario is that I get this ultrasound, learn that I have cancer, get a job and switch health insurance, then be denied coverage [or some benefits] because it’d then be considered a ‘pre-existing condition’.

My current insurance is through Medi-Cal (due to unemployment during the pandemic) but I’ve been considering switching to KP or Blue. Thanks to all in advance.
