My mom (58 y.o.) works as a nanny/housekeeper for a family in MA on the books and they don’t give her health insurance so she bought it off the marketplace last year and it’s $550 a month with a super high deductible (almost 2K). It had high copays and she’s paid SO much and in some medical debt in just the one year on it. She wants to change plans now in open enrollment but when we input her income it gives her the same option or two other plans that are $800 or almost 1K premium. She’s single and can’t imagine paying for that, are there really no cheaper options for someone her age who is not remotely wealthy just not poor? Appreciate any help!
