Is this Cigna’s standard “process” to repeatedly ignore claims despite repeated escalations, to avoid paying? The basic facts:
I submitted a claim online for 12 dates of service – the exact same treatment each time. After one month, Cigna sent me a rejection letter saying the claim was unreadable and did not contain the necessary information – regardless that I had submitted PDFs. Upon calling customer service, it turns out Cigna re-faxes documents to themselves and the fax machine munges the document. The person on the phone could perfectly see the submitted PDFs, confirmed they contained all the necessary information, and resubmitted them for processing. Another month passed, Cigna only processed 2 dates of service, sent me a check, and ignored the other 10. I called customer service again, they said their claims department missed processing all the claims and would resubmit them. Another month passed, Cigna re-processed the same 2 dates of service, ignoring the other 10 again.
Does Cigna repeatedly do this to avoid paying claims, hoping the customer gives up?
