I have an appt on Friday with my PCP to go over a Heartwise test and regular bloodwork. I already know the Heartwise results, the appt is just routine and to generate income for the office. ( No joke, the doc and even nurses have very little filter when chatting.)
I had cancer last year and have an appt every three months for a physical checkup but when I asked about bloodwork they said it was my PCP’s responsibility, which was news to me. So I want to bring it up on Friday but i picked a new and different Florida Blue plan that was cheaper than the others; it gives me 3 free checkup appts with my PCP, however I’ve lurked for a while and I’m concerned about the difference in costs between checkup and diagnostic and whatever. I’ve read the posts from people who’ve asked a harmless ailment-related question during a checkup and subsequently got a bill for diagnosis.
So what I’m asking is, what should I NOT say to my PCP on Friday in order to avoid a surprise bill, but still addresses bloodwork to check for signs of cancer?
( Is that even a thing anymore, checking for white blood cells and all that? I get very little extra info from my oncologist’s team these days. )
