I will be leaving my employer in the near future. I do not want to have a gap of time uninsured while between jobs. It is my understanding that my employer will send me a notice in the mail 15 days after termination that allows me to elect to enroll in COBRA. How can I enroll immediately after termination without waiting 15 days (while I will be uninsured)? Is my employer legally obligated to allow me to enroll immediately after termination?
