Hello, I have been searching Google for a while and can’t find a straight answer to this situation. My husband has recently joined the Air Force and I am covered under his Tricare insurance. I currently have a job with private insurance that has IVF coverage that we are going to need immediately after moving to his first base in a couple of months. My question is will I be eligible for COBRA insurance since I am on his Tricare? I know the website says you are ineligible if you sign up for a new group health plan but I am not sure if Tricare is considered a group health plan or not. If I won’t be eligible, is there a way for me to drop the Tricare insurance and stay on my private insurance under COBRA?
