Every forum’s favorite: husband/wife dispute.
One of us provided health insurance for the family (husband/wife/two kids). Lost job.
That person had the clever idea of not electing COBRA until the deadline and thereby saving the (huge mfing) premiums.
The other person objects on the basis that this strategy will only work if obviously there are no medical expenses necessitating a quickie sign up but even then, only if we elect for different insurance at the end of the sign up period, otherwise we will have to pay back premiums regardless.
Who is right? I am not identifying who is husband and who is wife to avoid the usual biases. You’re welcome to guess, of course.
Thanks in advance.
