I lost my job in DC on January 31 and as of yet my employer has not sent me any paperwork regarding my COBRA coverage. He never sent me an election form, instead asking me if I wanted coverage through a text message. I replied yes, but still have not heard anything from him, nor have I received any paperwork. I recently asked a coworker who lost their position the same time I did how he is making payments. He responded that he was writing my former employer a check for the payment amount he was quoted in an email (this email was a very casual,”the payments will be…”) without any breakdowns of cost. None of this seems right to me, but this is my first time being unemployed. What should my next move be?
