I just got a $1K+ bill from my dentist for services done 10 months ago. From the call with the assistant, I understood that they made an operation error – they were not within network of my insurance plan last year, but they mistakenly thought they were and confirmed I could do the filling etc. with them. They didn’t realize that until recently which is why I just got the bills. I called the insurance company and confirmed that is indeed the case. They wouldn’t be able to do anything on their end.
According to the assistant, the person who was in charge of confirming the insurance has left the job – not sure if that’s true or not… She’s very apologetic and willing to offer a discount like 20% something. That’s still a lot of money for me to pay. If I knew I needed to pay $$$ for this service, I would switch to another Dr. They are basically asking me to pay for their errors at work.
Need some advice on how I can dispute this bill if the dentist insists I should pay… Is there any place I can appeal/complain etc?
Thanks in advance!
