I went to a dental office, where I explicitly asked if a service is covered by my insurance before proceed. I would not do such service if it’s not covered. They confirmed it’s covered, without doubt. And hence I proceed with the service.
However, after a month, they said the insurance does not cover it at all, and asking me to pay it in full. I think it’s not my mistake, as they should not confirm it if they are not sure. They could say they don’t know, and then I’ll not do it immediately and will double check by myself.
I wonder, in general/from legal perspective, what’s the common sense about this situation — should they be responsible for the extra money? At least providing some discount for me?
