Do insurance companies retain claims records (diagnosis,Rx, provider info) after I am no longer covered?

Some background, I am 21 on my Dad’s insurance policy as a dependent. He gets group health insurance through his work, and my entire family is covered. I was wondering what would happen to all of my information (claims, prescriptions, provider info) if we were to switch insurance companies or when I turn 26 and am no longer covered. Does the company retain these records for a period of time, or are they destroyed when I am no longer insured. There are certain things I want to do in my future career that would warrant a hefty medical records check. (please dont tell me about HIPAA, I know)

Also, can someone clarify when information gets sent to the MIB. Considering I am a dependent, would I even have a record of underwriting? I read that apparently that process doesn’t apply to people on group insurance policies, however I have requested records from them anyway.

thx
