NY – procedure was for ultrasound and office visit.
I was relatively sure that insurance did not cover, so we asked doctor’s office twice. They sent us in writing that it was covered. Doctor is in-network, but the visit was for fertility testing which is not covered by my plan. Now, of course, they have billed us for the full amount.
Am I correct that this is not a surprise bill? I assume this situation falls under “don’t trust what the doctor’s office says about coverage no matter how sure they seem” and the best shot I have is getting the in-network reduced rate, but would appreciate confirmation or suggestions.
