Doctor’s office refused to get prior authorization

I’ve posted a few weeks ago about something similar, but have a more specific question now. If my doctor’s office refused to submit prior authorization for a procedure that the doctor ordered and I’m stuck with a higher bill because of it, is it worth fighting the charges? I was told that I don’t need prior approval after asking for them to do it twice. I went and had the test done thinking everything was fine. I saw that the bill processed and I owe over $800 because I didn’t get prior authorization. I was told by my insurance that if I appeal to get them to cover more. I also had two follow up procedures that I also called to get prior authorization on which the same lady denied doing it saying that I don’t need any for what I’m having done. I have voicemails saved of her telling me both times that I don’t need prior authorization. Now I’m also stuck with a bill that hasn’t processed yet but is over $8k. I did end up messaging the doctor herself and her pa requested approval 7 days before the last procedure but it got denied and they are waiting for more paper work. I know in the end it would be my responsibility to double check that I had coverage, but do you think I could argue with the hospital to lower my bill if insurance denies me? I haven’t been able to contact my doctor’s office in well over a week. Nobody calls me back and the person that originally refused to get authorization is no longer working there.
