Does the MLR mean an employee will get a check?

Boyfriend and I both have BlueCross BlueShield of Texas.

I have a plan from the marketplace, he has a plan through his employer.

Today I got a letter, along with a check, from BCBSTX stating that the because of the MLR* (medical loss ratio) I get reimbursed for some of my premiums.

*MLR means they have to spend 80% of what they bring in on medical bills and such. If they don’t they have to reimburse policy holders

I do see that they are allowed different categories such as private, small business and such. But if my boyfriend’s plan is due a refund does HE get the refund or does the company?
