Dual coverage between COBRA and ACA Exchange plan for a single dependent? [NC]

I’ve signed the family up for a HDHP ($7k individual deductible) via the ACA Exchange starting 2021-08-01, originally planning to not elect any COBRA continuation coverage for my former group policy (which has $500 individual deductible, but higher monthly premiums/no premium tax credits).

However, recently found out one of my dependents may need an expensive procedure performed. It looks like I can elect “Child Only” COBRA coverage. I was thinking it may make sense to have “dual coverage”, between COBRA and the exchange health plan for just this child, for 2 months or so.

Does this really make any sense? Is it even allowed? What considerations should go into this? Both plans would be through the same insurance carrier, not sure if that makes any difference.
