Two months ago, I was hospitalized for a small bowel obstruction. After the claims process and a subsequent appeal, my insurance deemed that the hospitalization was fraudulent on the part of the facility as they deemed the care could be provided in an outpatient procedure. Speaking with them, they said that they will offer the hospital an opportunity to bill it as outpatient. Is it possible the hospital comes after me for the charge? They told me during my E.R. visit that I would need to be hospitalized because it was totally obstructed.
