Hi all,
Age: 33 ZIP: 23139 Income: 80k+/annual
I enrolled in my employer’s healthcare program during open enrollment. The handbook we received listed one plan as a co-pay plan, so that’s what I went with. The other two options were pay-out-of-pocket until meeting the deductible, one with an HSA option.
It looks as though there have been major issues: coworkers of mine who have the same plan as me are being billed with the pay-out-of-pocket plan, have been signed up for HSA after declining that option, etc. After calling the actual health insurance company to confirm my benefits, they stated that my plan is indeed pay-out-of-pocket.
Can a company change the benefits after open enrollment? If so, wouldn’t we all need to be notified in writing?
Since last week, I’ve been caught back and forth between my HR and customer service from the insurance company. They’re both telling me to contact the other for further information.
The insurance in question is CareFirst.
Thanks, everyone.
