I (21F) am starting a new job and have offerings to enroll in my company’s health insurance plans. I am looking at the HDHP w/ HSA plan ($78 monthly premium, $2800 deductible, out of pocket limit $4000) vs. a basic UHC plan ($18 monthly premium, $4000 deductible, out of pocket limit $5000).
However, I can stay under my parents’ HDHP family plan for another few years as a dependent. They don’t want me to enroll in my own plan but are very much against birth control and mental health services, so I want to get my own insurance option to keep these items and services off their records. I expect to seek diagnosis of potential ADHD and potential prescription, get a birth control prescription, and routine annual physical and blood work.
Would it be possible to enroll as a secondary plan for myself? If so, which option would be the best for me?
