So, this has a lot of moving pieces, but I just need to vent this whole #üç%=@ up situation somewhere….
So, I work for a non-profit, and they moved me across two separate legal entities during the pandemic for federal licensing reasons, due to the work I do (political fundraising), and the requirements for doing it over the phones when we spent some time remote.
The employer I eventually ended up with had a different health plan than the one I had been on, and I had some years long procedures that I was getting set up, so I wanted to,not switch if possible. They gave us the option of continuing on COBRA, and just paying our original employer to stay on that plan. Our new employer was then giving us a stipend, equal to the premiums, so that we were still net zero cost.
So here’s the sticky bit. My ultimate employer, has not been getting me up to date premium stipends. I’ve paid a couple months out of my own pocket, but they owe me 6 months worth. I just found out today that my original employer cancelled my health plan for nonpayment, because I’m struggling with depression, and my therapist told me to schedule with my psychiatrist for some different medication, and with my EMDR therapist for cPTSD treatment, and when I called, they said I was uninsured.
I also have a surgery that I’m halfway into a 3 year process of getting, and the idea of starting over is so heartbreaking.
What can I do? Are there any options with so many wierd aspects to this? Or, is there no way to prove my emoyer owes me anything here?
TL:DR My employer took away health insurance because of their own lack of communication between departments, and now I’m losing treatment for depression and a 3 year surgical treatment in process.
