ER hospital stays

Hello guys!!

This been a crazy month thus far. My wife and I are expecting and on November 3rd we went to our first prenatal appointment only to find out her BP was so high 230/120 or so. Immediately the OB told us we needed to go to the ER so we did and we spent 5 hours there until they were able to bring ot down to a comfortable level and they sent her home with medication which wasn’t doing much still 165/100 average.

Fast forward to last Friday 17th and we go to the second appointment and she again is running blood pressure into the 200/115 and they sent us to the ER again and this time they started running a bunch of test( bloodwork, urine, ultrasound) you name it. She ended up staying overnight because they were trying to find the right medication and all of a sudden she gets and Transient ischemic attack( it was determined on the MRI that was done). So now we have even more test to see what cause the TIA and still trying to rule out anything dangerous that’s causing the high BP.

The whole stay was 5 days and she was seen by neurologist, cardiologist, OB, GP and therapist because of the tiny stroke.

We have a HDHP with a 6500 oop max. I know Florida has comprehensive balance billing laws so my questions is would I be liable for anything past the out of pocket max for those two stays ? I know we definitely are way way past the oop max.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

Her insurance is PHCS Multiplan
