Express Scripts charging more than retail for my prescription

Looking for any suggestions on this situation. Sorry if this is not the best sub for this question.

I have Express Scripts as my PBM. They advertise that I can get 90 days of a medication for $20 through mail order. I currently pay $10 for 30 day supply through my local pharmacy. Looks like I can save some money. I initiate the process through my app and they say they have to contact my doctor for a 90-day supply prescription. I also send a separate message to my doctor letting them know I can save money this way.

Couple days later, I get an email that Express Scripts is mailing out my medication and charging my card on file. Unfortunately when I receive my medication, it’s only a 30 day supply and they charged me $15.80.

I call customer service asking if I can just be charged the same amount as retail for the 30 day supply and they say no. I informed them they did not notify me of any changes nor discrepancies from my original request. They try to blame my doctor for not sending a 90 day supply prescription. I tell them regardless what my doctor did, I should have been notified that my original request was not approved and I would have declined the mail order knowing it was more expensive (and since Express Scripts is my insurance for meds, they already know how much I’m paying at retail). Our conversation gets nowhere as I keep asking for the difference in refund or even a credit. They keep blaming my doctor.

How should I handle this situation? I know it’s not much money, but ES doesn’t deserve the extra money for the same thing I could have gotten at my local pharmacy. Should I call them back another day and speak to someone else?

Thank you for your time
