Pretty much in the title; trying to determine if this is a temporary supply chain/Ukraine thing, or if it’s actually possible for an insurance company (Cigna) to be malicious and purposefully increase a single customer’s costs.
They declined to cover my Doctor’s request for a CT scan of my chest to determine some odd symptoms with my lung, with numerous frivolous reasons for declining. I filed a complaint with HHS, who after months reversed Cigna’s decision.
Throughout the process I was kicked around within the bowels of Cigna’s phone system countless times on countless calls. At least twice, I completely lost my cool with them (which is probably not as bad as I’m imagining; typically a pretty calm and collected person).
The latest time, I basically told the poor call center person that jobs are in high demand, that Cigna is an awful company that prevents people from getting the care they need so they can pad their bottom line, and that I hope she’s able to find a better job.
A couple days later, while my 150mg of venlafaxine is priced relatively normally, my 37.5mg dose went from about $7 out of pocket to over $350 out of pocket for a 90 day supply. Not seeing anything online specific to these meds getting more expensive.
I figure it’s pretty unlikely and more of paranoia to think they’re targeting me.
Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks
