My daughter is a grad student and she got insurance through her college. It came with her stipend so she had no choice. She is also covered on our insurance. I thought that she was supposed to submit bills to her insurance first and then ours would cover if her’s didn’t. But now she is telling me that the college plan is “supplemental” and that you are supposed to have a separate primary plan. Now I am confused as to the order of submission of claims. Is anyone here familiar with supplemental graduate student plans? Does this even make sense? Do you think she is wrong about this? A supplemental plan seems like a weird thing for people in their 20s.
