Hi Everybody,
My girlfriend and I are having a baby in Virginia in the next few weeks and just found out that he will not be covered under either of our insurances. We’re both still on separate plans from our families that don’t cover our dependents. I will hopefully be enlisting in the military before he’s born which would cover him under TriCare, however there’s a chance he comes before that happens. From what I’ve read, having a baby is a “qualifying life event” and we have 60 days to get him insured, at which point all of his previous bills would be covered. Did I understand that correctly or does one of us need to get on a plan with dependent coverage before he’s born?
Thanks for the help!
