tl;dr: Short-term health insurance plans for generally healthy US citizen and Green Card holder spouse moving back to US (Massachusetts) from abroad
Hi everyone, my husband and I are in the final stages of the spousal visa application and we currently live abroad in a European country. He was basically told at his recent interview that his visa would be approved if he sends back the original copies of a few documents, so we are hoping that it gets approved sometime in the coming weeks. The visa would be valid until the beginning of June (6 months validity from the date of the visa medical exam) so we aren’t in a rush.
Since one of the main differences between the EU and the US is the healthcare system, I’m trying to get educated on what our options would be and I’ve never lived as an adult in the US so I’m a bit lost! I may have a job on arrival, but there’s no guarantee, and my husband would be unemployed since he won’t be able to work until he has his SSN.
We are in our late 20s, he’ll be turning 30 in 2022. Between the two of us, the only routine medication is my birth control pill prescription, which I’ll get refilled before moving back, and we don’t really go for appointments unless we’re sick although we know things can happen so we want to be covered. Finally, we would be based in Massachusetts. Any suggestions for short-term plans we should look into? Thanks in advance!
