help checking to make sure professionals are in network before procedures

I had a consult with a surgeon that should be in network; hospital billed it as out of network. I called; apparently this is being fixed.

But I have a big procedure coming this week. This is my first adult medical procedure where I’m handling all insurance. How do I cross all my Ts?

Insurance site says the doctor is out of state/ in network but also states that he ‘is affiliated with a medical group that does not contract with the health plan’ (that might not apply to the hospital im seeing him in?)

I have the hospital’s tax id, doctor’s npi and the procedure code. Can I call insurance with this info and ask them to email me verification that the procedure is in network approved? What would that be called?

Any help with figuring out who the anaesthesia professional would be and if they’re in network?

Any other advice?
