We live in Michigan. My mom is 60 years old and had no income. She lives with my dad, who is 63 and has disability (SSDI) and a small pension. My dad qualifies for Medicare through his SSDI. However, my mom does not qualify for Medicaid or Medicare.
She was reasonably healthy, until she had a mini stroke, which resulted in a 3 day hospital visit. They put her on blood thinners, which resulted in a massive bleed following discharge, leading to am ambulance ride and 4-5 day hospital visit including 3 blood transfusions. Thankfully, she’s home and stable.
Now the hospital bills are coming in at tens of thousands for her first stay alone. Medicaid denied her again because of my dad’s income. Is she SOL or are there any other options for insurance/medical help?
