I left a company that I had insurance with last year and signed up for marketplace insurance for this year. I recently started working for the same company again as full time which means after 90 days I would be eligible for insurance. However, when I went to sign up for coverage for this week it showed I made my choice to deny coverage (which I never did) the same week I was rehired. It’s now been two months apparently since I ‘declined’ coverage and now I’m worried that
a.) I’m liable to repay my tax credit for the previous two months
and
b.) I can’t sign up for insurance through my company and will be forced to pay the entirety of my insurance each month for the rest of the year.
I’m going to speak with an HR rep Monday regarding what to do about getting insurance through them but am I liable for repaying that tax credit?
