Help with health insurance options for friend in Pennsylvania

Okay, I don’t know a whole lot about health insurance, so bear with me here please. My friend is in his 30’s, makes roughly 80K-85K yearly. His company does not offer health insurance and only pays for the cost of his insurance. The boss pays him $500 a month for insurance, but my friend chose the cheaper insurance for $300/month. The deductible is $5K, and apparently after he meets the deductible the insurance covers everything, but for now he has to pay like $100ish for a PCP/doctor’s visit. Recently, he had to go to the hospital and the bill was for roughly $5K. He has been going through a lot of health problems and needs to see doctors but doesn’t want to pay so much money for every visit. Are there any other alternatives for him?
