How do I demand to get a referral? Kaiser is not taking me seriously. (Sorry I do not know what other subreddit to put this in)

Hello. I recently discovered a mole on my boyfriend’s back. To be safe, he has to get it checked out ASAP.

he had an appointment with his doctor about 3 weeks ago and she said it was nothing to worry about but she would send pictures to a dermatologist and call him back if the derm said they should see him.

They even were about to forget to take pictures of his mole. As they told him he was done he had to remind them that the doctor said to take pictures to send over. The medical assistant took out her PERSONAL iPhone and took the pictures in bad lighting near the exit to the lobby.

A week goes by and no call back so he calls himself and they say that they will take care of it in 24-48 hours. It’s been 5 days and no call back.

He even looked at his case notes and there was no mention of my boyfriend telling the doctor he wants to see a dermatologist for his mole and dermatitis. It just said “patient noticed mole” that was the only mention of it. The doctor just upped his steroid prescription and said the mole was fine.

I’m so irritated. If this mole is concerning, this runaround is just putting him at risk.

I’m only 22, he’s 25 and this is the first time he’s had insurance on his own. How do we demand to see a dermatologist with no more run around like this??????

Sorry for the semi rant.
