How do I get a PCP assigned to me?

First time dealing with health insurance and going to a GP for an annual physical.

I just looked up some in-network docs in the area using ZocDoc and trying to make an appointment. However, they’re asking me if the doctor I want to see has been ASSIGNED to me by my health insurance but they haven’t been assigned (nobody has been assigned). Moreover, there’s no option (on insurance’s site) to have a doctor assigned or pick one myself, nothing similar.

Do I HAVE to have an in-network GP assigned to me “officially” before I can book an appointment? If yes, then how do I assign them, or get them assigned to me?
