I am a teacher so I work for the state technically. I did not sign up for health insurance when I started at my school in August because I was wanting to check out other options (it takes a huge chunk out of your check, obviously). Well here I am months later and I realized a while back there are no other options. I didn’t know there was only a certain time you could get it (open enrollment?) I’m 27, I haven’t had insurance in my adult life. I usually just pay out of pocket when I go to the doctor but I’ve had something come up recently and I’m scared to go to the doctor and have them tell me it might be cancer or something, because then I really won’t be able to enroll later without a pre existing condition or whatever.
I guess what I’m saying is I’m mad stupid at this stuff, but how to I get health insurance, like, this week?
I won’t qualify for anything low income or any special circumstances I don’t think. Thanks.
