I don’t know if this is the right subreddit to post this so apologies if this is the wrong subreddit lol.
Long story short, I am an international student on a visa here working at a company for a couple of years and was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in my home country (outside of U.S. Since my disease is rare in my home country, I have a special 90% discount on all tests/medication related to my medical condition but in the U.S and yes there is a universal health care system in place. I have no idea how the health care system work here and wanted to find out how much I am expected to pay monthly b/c my medication which is biologics can cost easily 5-6k per injection without insurance which I cannot afford.
I signed up for a Dental, Vision, accident, critical illness, and health discount plan(?) and it seems to cover (50-70% ish) the very basics of medical exams like Xrays, MRI, ct scan, etc, and some major diseases. So I may need additional coverage purely for my disease alone. What do you guys recommend I look into? I am still in my 20’s so my age bracket may make a price difference. But due to my disease, I may have to pay premium prices for insurance. If anyone has experience with a similar disease or situation please give me some advice. Thank you!
