Hi. I have schizoaffective disorder and over the past couple of days have been inching closer to a psychotic episode. I’ve started hearing voices, having strange thoughts, and feeling scared all the time for no reason. This is how I was right before my big episode that started everything for me, that took a year of my life away, and that I thought I had moved far past. Apparently not.
I’ve been on numerous antipsychotics, and I’m kind of limited on which ones I can take now that I have diabetes. My doctor prescribed me Safris based on my personal needs, but my insurance won’t pay for it without a pre-authorization. I’m just curious how long that typically takes, since time is of the essence here.
It seems kind of short-sighted for insurance to be okay with not paying for a drug I need, but okay with possibly causing me to be hospitalized and having to pay for that, but who am I to judge?
