Hi all! I got a new job, and was informed that my health insurance won’t kick in for 60 days.
This was a pretty rude awakening for me— I was hoping for no insurance gap, but I was prepared for the possibility of like 14-30 days. Is 60 days a longer than average time to have to wait for a health plan effective date? It’s definitely on the insurance provider’s end, not my employer’s, but… this was really rough news.
Basically my question is: what’s standard? Were my expectations way off base?
I’ll unfortunately be doing COBRA, because I absolutely can’t go 60 days without any coverage.
I live in Minnesota, if that’s at all relevant.
