I recently got insurance (medicaid) and for a regular check up my appointment is two months away but I’m having some stomach problems that I would consider rather urgent. So do I make an appointment with a specialist (Gastroenterologist) who takes my insurance ? Or do I have to wait for my doctors appointment to get a referral? If I can make an appointment with the specialist do I just call their facility and make an appointment through them ?
