Is there any way to restrict or block access to my medical records?
That would include any companies and my current primary care physician.
I’m asking because I received a few mails within last 2 months from pharmaceutical company, another health insurance company, and life insurance company. After 2nd mail I got suspicious because it seemed personalized. 3rd one only made me sure that my medical records are far from private.
I also have a problem with my primary care physician. I’m going to change my PCP because he suggested twice in last 3 visits I should stop taking my medication I’ve been on during my bipolar treatment (7 years). Medication that helps BTW. In his “professional” opinion I don’t have bipolar, but depression, which I was misdiagnosed and it almost ruined my life (due to the medication). Sorry for my language, but that’s idiotic. I’ve been seeing the same psychiatrist from 5 years. We figured out combination and doses that really help me. Haven’t had an episode in over a year now. Don’t have extreme mood swings. Combined with meditation, mental exercises, routines, and techniques, finally after years of struggling I’ve gained substantial control over my anger and emotions. It’s not perfect, but comparing to how I was couple years ago, it’s night and day.
I’m so disappointed that such personal information is not confidential.
Is there anything I can do? How? I appreciate any help.
