HR elected me in the wrong insurance plan?

I lose my dad’s health insurance at the end of April so I went through the enrollment process with my job to have coverage that’s set to have effective coverage beginning May 1st.

I just got my medical cards in the mail today, and the deductible amount looked higher than what I remembered signing up for. My job offers two different version of the same HDHP PPO plan. One has a lower deductible/coinsurance/OOP max but has a higher premium (Buy Up Plan), the other is the opposite (Core Plan). I chose the more expensive monthly plan (Buy Up Plan) and saved my enrollment document through my job in case I would ever need it. Glad I did.

I signed up for my account on the insurance company website, and it does in fact say I’m enrolled in the Core Plan which is not what I chose. Is it too late to have this changed or can this still be amended before May 1st? It was HR’s mistake, not mine. I’ve already emailed her this evening so she’ll see it tomorrow, but I’m a little worried about because I don’t 100% know the rules for when/when things can’t be changed regarding health insurance.
