I have two insurances, can it hurt me in the future?

For a lil while before covid, I was unemployed and had full coverage medicaid. Jan 2020 I got a job, reported it to medicaid then they determined I make “too much” money to qualify for medicaid anymore so they closed my case. Luckily I had insurance through my employer…fast forward to March/April 2020 when the whole country goes to shit. I ended up getting a letter in the mail saying my full coverage medicaid has been reinstated regardless of income, due to the national pandemic and will not change until they declare the national emergency is over.

I see a therapist, see an endocrinologist for my thyroid that requires regular check ups, and have been prescribed medicine from both of them. So I have two insurances…I put my employers insurance as primary and medicaid as secondary. This has been a godsend bc medicaid is free and they pay my deductible so I don’t have to pay any copay long as I go where both of them are accepted.

Not only is medicaid saving me from paying a copay, but they are helping me knock down my out of pocket cost from my primary insurance which is $1,300 then my primary will pay 80% and after $3,000 they will pay 100%. I even signed up to see my therapist twice a week now…not only bc I need it, but bc I’m trying to hurry up and get to the $3,000 out of pocket cost bc I feel like any day now, they can say we’re no longer in a state of emergency then I’ll lose my medicaid again.
