I just got a collections bill from a service I was told was covered..twice

Thanks for even clicking on this. I called my insurance company to ask where Covid tests were covered in March 2021 and went to get the test.

The place they sent me to gave me a bill in July and I queried it with both my insurance and the company that provided me the service. After at least 6 hours being bounced around various advocates and tired, exhausted administrative staff from both companies they finally suggested that it was all sorted and I was not liable for the cost.

As a British citizen living in the USA I was unimpressed enough with the system here to forgo getting insurance this year, and now this collections bill has arrived.

What do I do? It was already confusing enough before, when I had someone at the insurance company in my corner. Now I have no one except for now I’ll be caught in the middle of a triangle.

Do I speak to the collections agency? Do I speak to an insurance company that no longer represents me?

Please help me. I am so unprecedentedly willing to put this painfully stressful admin error behind me.
