I have cheap health insurance $200 a month for coverage on phone visits with some weird over the phone MD. It’s the cheapest plan they had and offered more expensive plans for better coverage. Their website is pretty bad, and I’m kind of embarrassed because it’s actually a stupid plan. It doesn’t cover much. I bought it so that I had coverage imediately, because I lost my coverage from my old plan when I decided to take the semester off from college. I told them I wanted to cancel and they forwarded my call to Someone else. They said that if I opted out of health insurance there is a six month waiting period until I can sign on to a new plan with any company within the same network. I’m applying for insurance through my state, and plan on opting out of my current plan, because I’m unemployed.
My questions are; Does this sound like I’m on a scam plan? Is this waiting period thing real, and should I be worried about it? Please help.
